TenneT has completed the acquisition of Netz Veltheim, the company owning and operating a 220-kV extra high voltage network and transformer stations in Germany, from E.ON and Stadtwerke Bielefeld. Netz Veltheim’s grid with a total length of c. 180km is connected to the extra high voltage networks of the transmission system operators TenneT and Amprion, fulfilling an important role as electricity distribution hub in the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region.

In addition, the company transmits electricity from a power plant directly connected to the grid. Through Netz Veltheim’s transformers, electricity is supplied to the downstream 110-kV high-voltage networks of two local distribution network operators.
